Studio Upgrade: Before and after pictures!

For those of you who haven’t had the chance to come by and see the studio in person, take a look at before and after shots. The upgrade added a glass door and two soundproof windows to the space, moved the blue equipment rack into a side room, replaced the carpet and furniture, and much more! We were able to upgrade the space thanks to a grant from Alaska Public Broadcasting, Inc. and the Denali Commission.

It’s Basketball Time!

We’re excited that we will be able to bring you all of the Raiders/Lady Raiders bball games on KUCB 89.7 FM this season! If you can’t make it to the gym this Friday and Saturday, tune in to KUCB!

Holiday Programming on Channel 8 TV

Did you miss the PCR Glee Ensemble’s performance? Didn’t make it to the school band concerts or one of the student holiday programs? What about Lynda Lybeck-Robinson’s student piano recital? Never fear, we have video of all these and more and will be playing them on Channel 8 over Christmas weekend. We will also broadcast a holiday “Story Time,” a Nativity play, and two cooking shows. AND most of these programs are available on DVD if you would like to have them for your library or for gifts. Here’s the schedule for Channel 8!

Community Advisory Board Meeting

We want to hear from you! Our Community Advisory Board provides input and feedback about Channel 8 TV and KUCB radio to our Board of Directors. The next meeting takes place on Thursday, December 15 at 6 PM in our offices at the Burma Road Chapel. Light refreshments will be provided and the meeting should not last more than an hour. Staffing Changes at KUCB

Stay tuned for programming changes on KUCB! Daniel Weirich has given up his role as live host of the Mid-Day Music Mix on KUCB due to his work schedule. But fear not, we’ll be keeping his talent on the air, we just have to find him a new time slot! We’ll miss Daniel in the afternoon and wish him the best in his new endeavors. For the next few weeks you’ll hear a variety of voices in the afternoon, including Monica Southworth who is back in town for a couple of months. That means the request lines will stay open in the afternoons. We’ll keep you posted about upcoming schedule changes. Thanks for your patience!

This means we have a job posting: Unalaska Community Broadcasting seeks an individual to cover on air shifts at KUCB Radio. Part-time position, up to 30 hours per week. Flexible schedule varies based on UCB needs, including possible evening and weekend work. Responsibilities include production of regularly scheduled content for KUCB Radio; and voicing and scheduling of radio PSAs, station identifications, and funding acknowledgements. We hate to say goodbye to Peggy McLaughlin, who has worked on our video archiving project for the past several months. Peggy established a database of just under 4000 video records and set up and categorized a library of all of Channel 8′s video content. The inventory portion of the project is complete and the next step is to seek funding for digitization. We appreciate all of Peggy’s hard work and wish her the best as she begins her new job as a customer service rep for TelAlaska!
